Wagamama Chichester
If you're wandering through the charming streets of Chichester and craving something vibrant, bold, and bursting with flavour, Wagamama Chichester on 26 South Street is where you want to head. This is not just another chain restaurant-it’s a well-oiled machine of modern Asian cuisine that delivers big on taste and atmosphere. Whether you’re in for a solo lunch, a casual dinner with friends, or a quick noodle fix, this place caters to all.
Let’s start with the vibe. Bright, minimalist interiors and communal tables create a relaxed, social environment that encourages sharing-both food and conversation. It’s wheelchair-accessible throughout, from the entrance to the seating and restroom, so inclusivity is clearly part of the Wagamama ethos. Though it lacks a dedicated accessible car park, the central location means public transport or nearby parking gets you close enough.
As someone who’s sampled a fair share of pan-Asian menus, what sets Wagamama Chichester apart is their commitment to fresh ingredients and consistent quality. The moment you dive into a bowl of Shirodashi Pork Belly Ramen, with its slow-cooked richness and that signature umami hit, you’ll know you're in for something special. The Tantanmen Beef Brisket Ramen also packs a punch, with its spicy depth and tender beef slices making it a must-try for any noodle enthusiast.
For the plant-based crowd, the vegan ribs are surprisingly satisfying-sticky, flavourful, and with a texture that might just fool a meat-eater. Pair that with edamame lightly tossed in salt, or some crispy ebi katsu, and you’ve got the perfect balance of clean and indulgent.
If you’re more of a small-plate grazer, the hiragana steamed bun with duck or calamari with a chilli kick hits all the right notes. And don’t miss the beef fillet seared tataki with pickled mooli-it’s delicate, beautifully presented, and showcases their flair for Japanese fusion. The grilled duck donburi is another underrated gem for those who want something hearty without the heaviness.
Now, on the sweet side of things, Wagamama Chichester doesn’t mess around. The dough-chi trio-coconut cherry, vanilla yuzu matcha, and white chocolate-brings a fun, mochi-style spin to dessert, and it’s a joy to share. But if you prefer your sugar with a citrus twist, the Yuzu Basque Cheesecake is creamy, tangy, and surprisingly light.
Drinks? Absolutely worth a mention. Their free green tea is a thoughtful touch, especially when paired with a spicy dish. But if you’re in the mood for something a little more spirited, grab a yuzu lychee tonic or opt for their curated Japanese beer selection. Whether you’re unwinding after a long day or fuelling up before hitting the shops, the drink menu doesn’t disappoint.
One of the features I personally appreciate about this spot is their Braille menu, which shows they’re thinking beyond food-they’re thinking accessibility and experience. Plus, with takeaway, delivery, and dine-in options, it’s easy to enjoy Wagamama’s menu however you want, wherever you are.
What makes Wagamama Chichester shine isn’t just the food-it’s the experience. It’s the way the team brings together bold flavours, clean design, and thoughtful service into a place that feels just as comfortable for a quick solo lunch as it does for a lively dinner out. They’ve nailed the balance between fast and fresh, trendy and timeless. And honestly, it’s the kind of spot you end up returning to without even realising it.

SO NICE. the guy who served us was so sweet and funny, and the food was perfect. it wasn’t very busy when we were in there, but the atmosphere was still lovely. 10/10 no complaints
Our server rob was amazing, super chatty, very informative & friendly, my boyfriend has a nut allergy & he made him feel safe & like it wasn't a problem at all. Food was delish! Vegan teriyaki chicken was my fave
Delicious food. Free green tea is a nice bonus. Nice place, good food, friendly service, reasonable prices. Some of the tables have a cafeteria-like layout, which doesn't allow for an intimate atmosphere. Some tables are separated by dividing walls, creating a cozy and more intimate setting. It can get very loud here, and the noise level is so high that it makes conversation difficult. We've been here many times. We've tried various dishes, dined in, and ordered takeout. Everything has always been tasty.
The food was fresh, tasty, and came out quickly, just what you’d hope for. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
Had a wonderful time here with the family, the staff were friendly and helpful, and very good with the children. The food was amazing as I have come to expect from Wagamama, its difficult not spend all my money here! The staff even warned me about ordering the firecracker chicken which made me giggle. I must of eaten it over 50 times now. There is parking very close by which had reaonable prices. I would certainly return if I find myself in Chichester again. Thank you.
